Finland has an ambitious plan of being the first welfare state that is also carbon-neutral. This requires quickly reducing emissions as well as absorbing carbon from the air with carbon sinks, like forests.
Finland will make the reductions by transitioning to fossil-free electricity and heat production and expanding a circular economy.
Also, through taxation, environmentally harmful activities are made more expensive. This is designed to guide consumption towards more sustainable solutions. Finland wants to keep everyone working together towards sustainability.
